Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week will be marked this week for the 16th year, highlighting the impact of relationships on our mental health. The Library provides many excellent e-resources, including Community Care InformSocial Policy and Practice and, of course, MEDLINE.

SCOPUS Document Download

The database SCOPUS contains a nifty feature that allows you to download the full text of articles from your search results at the click of a couple of buttons.

However, watch out because it doesn't work very well with Chrome v.42 onwards.  See here

For the best experience using SCOPUS, use Internet Explorer 9 or later or Firefox.

International Day of the Midwife

The International Day of the Midwife is an occasion for every individual midwife to think about the many others in the profession, to make new contacts within and outside midwifery, and to widen the knowledge of what midwives do for the world.

In light of this, the Library would like to draw your attention to the many excellent databases it offers including Maternity and Infant Care  and Intermid, Internurse and MA Healthcare.

This is in addition to a vast range of electronic journals including the British Journal of Midwifery and, from Wiley, the Journal of Midwifery and Women's Health.

Local and Community History Month

Local and Community History Month runs from May 1st to the 31st.

The aim of the month is to increase awareness of local history, promote history in general to the local community and encourage all members of the community to participate.
Activities happen across the UK and include trips, library exhibitions and local lectures.  It is a great way for groups to highlight local history and for local people to get involved.

In light of this, why not check out the Library's fantastic Archives?  The archive contains collections of interest to students, researchers, genealogists and local historians, including material relating to the history of the University, from its foundations in 1896 to the present day.
