Searching for Databases

The list of databases and other online resources to which the Library subscribes can be found in two places.

The first way is to use the databases section of this page http://www.salford.ac.uk/library/access-to-e-resources
  • type a database name
  • browse by subject area
  • or use the A-Z
When you click onto a database name, you'll see links to access the resource for both on and off campus use, notes about how to access the resource - eg. what username and password is required, where to click etc. - as well as a description and sometimes information on the help and support available.
For example, see this video

The second way is to search for a database name in SOLAR - you'll find all the same databases as you would using the webpage above.
When you find a record in SOLAR, the View It tab will show you the on and off campus links, and the Details tab will show you the access notes and description.  You can also click through to the full record from that page.
See this video for more

There are over 400 resources listed, covering all subject areas, and including online journals and books, digitised historic books, recorded TV programmes, financial data, images, photos, theses and more.
